The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a formal response following the death of Abdulsamad Jamiu, a corps member who was allegedly killed by soldiers in the Federal Capital Territory. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Jamiu’s residence located within Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei. The NYSC described the death as a result of a military operation conducted in the vicinity of the corps member's home.

Official Identification and Service Details

In a statement released on Monday, April 27, the NYSC identified the deceased as Abdulsamad Jamiu, with registration number NS/25A/2904. Before his untimely death, Jamiu was fulfillng his national service obligations at Government Junior Secondary School, Bakin Ado, located in Nasarawa State. The management highlighted that Jamiu was actively contributing to national development through the mandatory youth scheme at the time of the incident.

NYSC Engagement with Security Agencies

The NYSC expressed "profound concern and sorrow" regarding the circumstances of the killing. Management confirmed that the scheme is currently in active engagement with relevant security agencies to establish a full and transparent account of the events that led to the military presence at the estate and the subsequent shooting.
