Welfare Check Leads to Controlled Substance Discovery
A report of unresponsive individuals in a parked vehicle led to a narcotics arrest in North Haven this past Thursday. Local police were dispatched to the vicinity of Washington Avenue after a witness observed a male and female inside a car who appeared to be impaired or unconscious. Upon arrival, officers successfully made contact with both occupants. During the interaction, investigators noted visible indicators of impairment from the female passenger, identified as 34-year-old Pamela Fudala. For safety and further investigation, both individuals were asked to exit the vehicle.
K9 Quella Alerts Officers to Hidden Narcotics
To assist in the investigation, the North Haven Police Department deployed K9 Quella for an open-air exterior sniff of the vehicle. The specialized police dog provided a positive alert for the presence of narcotics, establishing probable cause for a more thorough search of the interior. During the subsequent inspection, officers located illegal narcotics concealed inside Fudala’s personal belongings. The specific type and quantity of the substances seized have not been detailed by authorities at this time, though they were sufficient to warrant formal criminal charges.
Legal Charges and Immediate Processing
Fudala was taken into custody without further incident and transported to police headquarters for processing. She has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. The male occupant of the vehicle was not immediately reported as facing charges in connection with the discovery. Fudala is expected to appear in court at a later date to answer to the narcotics violation. The North Haven Police Department highlighted the incident as a successful collaboration between patrol officers and the K9 unit in addressing substance-related issues in public spaces.
