Swift Military Intervention Prevents Abduction Escalation

The Nigerian Army has intensified its offensive against criminal elements in the South East through a series of tactical engagements under Operation EASTERN SANITY. In Enugu State, troops of the 82 Division Garrison responded to an active kidnapping attempt along the Akama, Iwollo Road. Upon arriving at the scene in the Ezeagu Local Government Area, the military units engaged the suspects in a direct firefight, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and retreat into the surrounding terrain.

Identification and Repatriation of Liberated Citizens

The successful engagement resulted in the immediate rescue of four individuals who had been forcibly taken. The army identified the victims as Chisom Kingsley and Chuoke Chinedu, both residents of Akama, along with Jonathan Paul Chukwu from Akwa Ibom State and Patience John from Taraba State. Following their extraction from the danger zone, the survivors were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force to facilitate their return to their families and assist with ongoing criminal inquiries.

Strategic Arrest of High Value Insurgent Operative

A separate but related operation in Ebonyi State targeted the leadership of local insurgent networks. Acting on information obtained from the previously captured commander Chinedu Igautu, known by the alias “Calamity,” troops conducted a precise raid in the Izzi Local Government Area. This mission led to the apprehension of Chisom Agashi Ogadego, an individual identified as “Baron,” who is suspected of being a central figure in the regional kidnapping and militant infrastructure.
