Strategic Raid In Iganke Community

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has successfully dismantled a high-capacity illicit drug storage facility in the Iganke community. Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives moved on the warehouse on Monday, April 6, 2026, leading to the arrest of Roland Owie, a native of the area and a suspected member of a regional drug cartel. The facility served as a central distribution point for "skunk"—a potent variety of dried cannabis—intended for circulation across the state and beyond.

Massive Consignment Intercepted

During the search of the premises, officials uncovered 125 large bags of suspected cannabis sativa. The total weight of the confiscated weeds was calculated at 1,378 kilograms (approximately 1.37 metric tons). State Commandant Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju emphasized that a seizure of this magnitude represents a significant disruption to the criminal economy of trafficking syndicates. By intercepting over a ton of drugs in a single operation, the agency effectively prevented thousands of doses from reaching streets, schools, and vulnerable youth.

Zero Tolerance Policy In Edo State

Commandant Ofoyeju used the occasion to issue a stern warning to drug barons and traffickers, asserting that Edo State is no longer a safe haven for illicit activities. He highlighted that the command’s intelligence and operational capabilities have been robustly strengthened to meet the challenges of modern drug trafficking. The "Supply Suppression" strategy remains a cornerstone of the NDLEA's mission, aimed at making the trade so risky and unprofitable that syndicates are forced to dissolve.
