Disputed Congress Leads to New Executive Claims

A major internal rift has surfaced within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State. The turmoil began after Malam Mohammed Mainasara, acting as Chairman of the Congress Committee, announced that a state exercise was successfully conducted under the mandate of the party’s national leadership. Mainasara stated that a new State Executive Committee emerged through a consensus arrangement, resulting in Malam Shehu Gulubba being named the new State Chairman.

New Leadership Pledges Grassroots Focus

Upon his controversial emergence, Shehu Gulubba delivered an acceptance speech focused on reconciliation and expansion. He emphasized his commitment to promoting internal cohesion and prioritizing grassroots development to strengthen the ADC’s presence across the state. Joining him in the new executive lineup are Ahmad Hashim as Secretary, Jafafar Aliyu as Youth Leader, and Maryam Abdullahi as Women Leader.

Gusau Faction Rejects Outcome, Alleges Sabotage

The transition has been met with fierce resistance from Kabiru Garba Gusau, who maintains that he remains the legitimate party chairman in Zamfara. Gusau described the parallel congress as a provocative move orchestrated by external interests aimed at destabilizing the party for future political gain. He insisted that any valid election must involve all key stakeholders and criticized the lack of collective agreement in the Mainasara-led exercise.
