A Formal Alliance for Commercial Aviation

The Ndi Igbo Amaka Progressive Market Association, a prominent collective of traders in Lagos, has officially entered into a memorandum of understanding with United Nigeria Airlines (UNA). This agreement, signed on Wednesday in Lagos, designates UNA as the official carrier and airline partner for the association’s extensive membership. According to the airline, the partnership was finalized by the association’s president, Chinedu Ukatu, and UNA’s managing director, Osita Okonkwo, marking a significant consolidation of interests between the aviation and retail sectors in Nigeria.

Incentives for the National Trading Ecosystem

The newly established partnership aims to provide a comprehensive suite of travel advantages tailored to the needs of traders, their families, and business associates. Members of the association will now have access to a variety of perks including discounted flight tickets, exclusive lounge access, and priority service handling. To mark the commencement of this alliance, the airline introduced an introductory offer of 50 tickets at a significantly reduced rate of N80,000, specifically for members traveling across its domestic routes.

Strategic Outreach to Ten Million Market Participants

Osita Okonkwo, the managing director of United Nigeria Airlines, noted that this move is a deliberate effort to strengthen the carrier's relationship with the Nigerian trading community. The airline is specifically targeting a demographic of over 10 million traders, seeking to make air travel more efficient and financially rewarding for those who form the backbone of the nation's commerce. By integrating its services with the logistical needs of market leaders, UNA expects to capture a significant portion of the business travel market in West Africa’s largest economy.
