Officials at the maximum-security facility contacted state troopers on Monday, March 16, after a review of internal security video allegedly captured a staff member in a compromising situation with an incarcerated individual. Troopers and detectives arrived at the penitentiary shortly after 3:30 p.m. to process the scene and interview the involved parties.

Identification and Arrest of Facility Staff

Authorities identified the suspect as Alysta Mathis, a 26-year-old resident of Dawson Springs who served as a caseworker at the penitentiary. Based on the preliminary investigation and a detailed review of the digital evidence, KSP determined there was sufficient cause to proceed with an arrest.
