Hisbah Refutes Fabricated Claims of Political Scandal
The Kano State Hisbah Board has moved to silence circulating social media rumors alleging the arrest of a local government chairman and an associate during a recent hotel raid. In a detailed statement released on Friday, Auwalu Ado Sheshe, the Board’s Director of Public Enlightenment, categorized these reports as entirely false and misleading. Sheshe asserted that the misinformation was a calculated attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Sharia enforcement agency, as well as the religious and cultural integrity of the people of Kano State.
Details of the Operation at Stephrica Guest Palace
The actual operation in question took place at Stephrica Guest Palace Ltd., located in the Kureken Sani area within the Kumbotso Local Government Area. Led by Chief Superintendent of Hisbah, Hafizu Garba Adakawa, the raid was initiated following a series of formal complaints from local residents regarding alleged immoral activities occurring at the facility. Contrary to the viral claims involving political figures, the board confirmed that the individuals apprehended were young civilians and hotel management staff.
Arrests and Judicial Outcomes for kumbotso Raid
A total of 21 individuals were arrested during the sting, consisting of 10 males and 11 females with ages ranging from 15 to 35. Additionally, the hotel’s manager, Chijioke Nweke, an unnamed staff member, and the property owner, Asuzu Jeffrey, were taken into custody. The suspects were promptly arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 5 in Gyadi-Gyadi. The court subsequently sentenced the primary operators to one year of imprisonment or an optional fine of N100,000, while 14 other offenders received three-month sentences or N30,000 fines.
