Reaffirming the "Stronghold" Identity

Stakeholders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District have declared that the party remains the most formidable platform for political contest as the 2027 general elections approach. During an expanded caucus meeting held in Kafanchan on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, party leaders emphasized that despite the evolving political landscape, Southern Kaduna remains a "traditional home" for the PDP. Former Deputy Governor Nuhu Bajoga noted that the party continues to enjoy deep-seated grassroots support that rivals cannot easily erode.

Commitment to Transparent Primaries

Zonal Chairman Mr. Akusor Danjuma addressed potential aspirants, offering assurances that the party leadership would provide a level playing field for all candidates. While the party is prepared to adopt direct primaries where necessary, Danjuma revealed that ongoing consultations are aimed at fostering consensus arrangements. He urged aspirants to intensify engagement with one another to reach resolutions that strengthen party unity rather than create internal friction. "We came to assure our supporters that we will be on the ballot in 2027," Danjuma stated.

Addressing Internal Friction and Defections

Immediate past state chairman Felix Hyet described the PDP as the foundational "mother" of Nigeria’s democratic development, noting that many leaders in opposing parties originally gained their political footing within the PDP. While acknowledging ongoing internal disputes, Hyet expressed confidence that these issues would be resolved shortly. Additionally, House of Assembly aspirant Danjuma Sarki dismissed the impact of recent defections and alleged intimidation by political opponents, asserting that the party’s core structure remains intact and undeterred.
