Tactical Strike Disrupts Large Scale Terrorist Convergence
A joint military operation involving the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7 and the 8 Division Strike Team has successfully engaged a significant terrorist cell deep within the Kadam Forest. Acting under the mandate of Operation Fansan Yamma, the tactical units moved to intercept a gathering of over 100 insurgents reportedly affiliated with the Lakurawa network. According to Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the acting spokesperson for the 8 Division, the mission was launched to prevent imminent attacks and the transit of kidnapped victims through the region’s dense forest strongholds.
Fierce Engagement Near Tangaza Local Government Area
The confrontation began at approximately 1200 hours when troops established contact with the hostile forces. The ensuing engagement was described as fierce and sustained, with the terrorist elements attempting a rear flanking maneuver to catch the military units off guard. However, the Nigerian Army responded with superior firepower, maintaining tactical dominance throughout the firefight. The precision of the response forced the remaining insurgents to retreat further into the wilderness, effectively neutralizing the immediate threat to the surrounding local communities.
Recovery of Heavy Weaponry and Logistics Materiel
Following the initial battle, exploitation operations conducted within the forest confirmed the death of three terrorists, while several others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds. Military personnel successfully recovered a significant cache of hardware, including a PKT machine gun, two AK 47 rifles, and over 460 rounds of assorted ammunition. In addition to the weaponry, the troops seized three motorcycles and two radios, which were allegedly utilized for mobile coordination and the execution of kidnapping operations across the Sokoto transport corridors.
