Swift Intervention by Safe School Initiative Operatives

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully intercepted a fraudulent operation targeting students participating in the 2026 Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations. Operatives from the Inspector General of Police Safe School Initiative took Eric Nwombu into custody following reports of his suspicious activities in the Atani region. According to a statement released in Awka by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was found in unlawful possession of several critical examination materials that he could not account for during initial questioning.

Suspicious Activity at Local Digital Service Center

The arrest was triggered by the vigilance of employees at a cyber cafe in Atani where students had gathered to verify their examination centers. Nwombu reportedly presented himself as the JAMB 2026 coordinator for the Atani area, using this false title to collect examination slips from candidates. Workers at the facility grew wary of his conduct and contacted law enforcement authorities. Upon the arrival of the police, the suspect attempted to flee the premises but was quickly apprehended by the responding officers.

Recovery of Sensitive Examination Documents

During the search following his arrest, police recovered eight original JAMB examination slips and an exercise book. This ledger contained a compiled list of student names alongside their corresponding examination numbers, suggesting an organized effort to harvest candidate data. The suspect failed to provide a legitimate explanation for how he obtained these materials or his authority to handle them, leading investigators to believe the documents were obtained through deceit or unauthorized access.
