Pentagon Claims Total Superiority In Maritime Blockade

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided a forceful update on the status of the ongoing conflict, stating that the United States Navy is maintaining a comprehensive blockade against Iran while utilizing only a small fraction of its total capability. According to Hegseth, the U.S. is employing less than 10% of its naval power to enforce the current restrictions on Iranian maritime movement. Hegseth framed the current situation as a vastly asymmetrical engagement, noting that while the U.S. maintains its global reach, the Iranian navy has been effectively rendered non-operational.

Strategic Distribution Of Naval Assets In The Middle East

The U.S. naval presence in the region currently consists of 16 warships out of a total battle force of approximately 300 vessels. According to Pentagon data, this fleet includes 11 destroyers, three amphibious assault ships, one aircraft carrier, and a littoral combat ship. This specific deployment is tasked with ensuring the blockade remains impenetrable. Hegseth suggested that the limited number of ships required to contain Iranian forces serves as a clear indicator of the technological and operational gap between the two nations' maritime capabilities.

Degradation Of Iranian Defense Manufacturing

In a direct address to Tehran’s leadership, Hegseth claimed that seven weeks of sustained warfare have destroyed Iran’s ability to replenish its military assets. While Iranian forces have been observed moving existing equipment and assets, Hegseth stated that they no longer possess a viable defense industry to rebuild what has been lost. The Secretary warned that any movement of Iranian military hardware is being closely monitored, and the U.S. remains "locked and loaded" on Iran's remaining critical infrastructure, including power generation and the energy sector.
