The Infrastructure Lifeline Across Riverine Terrains

The physical landscape of Bayelsa has undergone a profound shift through the completion of major arterial roads that link previously isolated hinterlands to the state capital. Key projects include the 22.2 kilometre Yenagoa, Oporoma, Ukubie Road and the Angiama, Oporoma Bridge spanning the River Nun. These developments, according to Daniel Alabrah, represent more than just construction, they serve as economic conduits for farmers and traders. By finishing inherited projects and initiating new corridors like the 42 kilometre Sagbama, Ekeremor Road, the administration has ended decades of geographic isolation for several riverine communities.

Civil Service Reforms and Human Capital Development

Beyond physical structures, the Diri administration has prioritized the welfare of the public workforce as the institutional backbone of the state. Monthly allocations ranging from N200 million to N400 million have been consistently released to address long standing gratuities and death benefits. The government has also implemented a transport scheme and housing plot allocations for over a thousand civil servants to ease the cost of living. These efforts are complemented by the completion of the nine storey Secretariat Complex and the Justice Ungbunku High Court Complex, providing modern environments for governance and the judiciary.

Strategic Agricultural Expansion and Food Sovereignty

To achieve self reliance, the state has aggressively invested in cultivation and processing facilities for rice, cassava, and plantain. The establishment of rice mills at Niger Delta University and Federal University, Otuoke, facilitates the production of locally branded rice. In collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the government distributed seedlings and land to 3,500 farmers across all eight local government areas. Additionally, the completion of the cassava starch processing factory at Ebedebiri and the training of Bayelsans in soilless farming techniques signify a shift toward modernized, sustainable agriculture.
