The Sudden Escalation of a Residential Attack
A violent encounter at a Georgia residence concluded abruptly late last month when a homeowner resorted to lethal force to stop a pair of armed intruders. According to reports from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Grove Mobile Home Park in Douglas following reports of gunfire. Investigators determined that the incident began when two women, identified as 35 year old Stephanie Ann Nicole Castillo and 27 year old Elisabet Gaspar, arrived at the home with the intent to commit a robbery. The suspects were allegedly armed with a machete, which they used to initiate a brutal confrontation with the occupant.
A Desperate Struggle for Survival
The victim described a harrowing and lengthy physical struggle that took place inside the residence as he attempted to fend off his attackers. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the homeowner was beaten and assaulted during the melee, facing significant physical danger from the suspects and their edged weapon. Amidst the assault, the victim managed to reach a shotgun, using the weapon to deliver a single discharge. The spread of the round was sufficient to strike both Castillo and Gaspar, effectively ending the violent struggle and forcing the suspects to retreat to a nearby location where they were eventually found by arriving deputies.
Medical Intervention and Immediate Custody
Upon arriving at the scene, Emergency Medical Services provided immediate aid to both suspects before transporting them to Coffee Regional Medical Center. Following their treatment for gunshot wounds and subsequent medical clearance, both women were transitioned into the custody of the Coffee County Jail. The homeowner, while subjected to a beating during the initial phase of the home invasion, was able to provide a detailed account of the event to investigators, which helped establish the timeline of the attack and the defensive nature of the shooting.
