Suspects Identified in Ongoing Vehicle Theft Investigation

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two individuals on Tuesday following a months-long investigation into a string of local thefts. Sheriff Carter Weaver confirmed that 18-year-old Kemonte Ke’san Holmes of Andrews was taken into custody Monday evening. A second suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile whose identity remains protected due to his age, was arrested the following day. Both are facing multiple charges related to the possession of stolen property linked to incidents that occurred throughout January in the Georgetown area.

High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Loris Crash

The investigation gained significant momentum following a dangerous encounter with the Horry County Police Department. According to Sheriff Weaver, the two suspects were spotted operating a Ford vehicle that had been reported stolen from Big Dam Drive. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the teens initiated a high-speed chase that spanned county lines before ending abruptly in Loris. The suspects reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed, successfully evading capture on foot immediately following the collision.

Stolen Property Recovered from Abandoned Getaway Car

Upon inspecting the crashed Ford, investigators discovered physical evidence linking the pair to specific thefts in the region. Among the recovered items was a 24-inch Phillips television, which authorities have since traced back to an 18-wheeler parked on Robinson Drive. This discovery helped detectives solidify the charges against Holmes and the juvenile, connecting the high-speed flight directly to the earlier reports of vehicle break-ins and grand larceny.
