Final Suspect in Custody After Public Appeal
The Florence Police Department has arrested Kaywon James of Timmonsville, marking the fourth and final arrest in the investigation into the death of Deandre Lyde. James was taken into custody on March 10, just one day after investigators released his photo and requested help from the community in locating him. According to booking records at the Florence County Detention Center, James is being held on charges of murder and armed robbery.
Details of the February Incident
The charges stem from a violent encounter on February 16 at the Coit Village Apartments located on North Coit Street. Investigators determined that a silver Honda Accord arrived at the complex, where at least one occupant had an interaction with Lyde immediately preceding the fatal shooting. While the specific nature of the interaction has not been fully disclosed, the presence of armed robbery charges suggests a theft or attempted theft occurred during the confrontation.
