A Strategic Realignment of Road Safety Leadership
The Federal Road Safety Corps has initiated a comprehensive internal restructuring aimed at revitalizing its operational efficiency and accelerating safety outcomes across the Nigerian road network. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed recently authorized the redeployment of 162 senior officers, a move designed to inject fresh perspectives into key formations of the agency. According to a statement from Assistant Corps Commander Agboola Olundegun, this sweeping personnel shift is intended to bolster discipline and foster innovation within the ranks as the organization seeks to modernize its approach to traffic management.
Elevating Communication Through New Spokesmanship
A pivotal component of this administrative overhaul is the elevation of leadership within the public relations wing of the agency. Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, has been appointed as the new Corps Public Education Officer. By selecting an experienced internal candidate to replace the outgoing leadership, the Corps Marshal intends to drive a more aggressive and responsive communication strategy. This transition is expected to improve the transparency of the agency and ensure that safety messaging reaches the public with greater impact and clarity.
Strengthening Regional and Zonal Command Structures
The restructuring extends deep into the regional leadership of the agency, with the formal appointment of four new Zonal Commanding Officers tasked with overseeing critical territories. Assistant Corps Marshals C.Z. Mathew, A.L.O. Ruk, B.S. Akande, and Leye Adegboyega have been assigned to lead the Benin, Enugu, Sokoto, and Bauchi zonal headquarters respectively. These high ranking officers are expected to provide the rigorous oversight necessary to coordinate multiple state commands, ensuring that national safety directives are implemented uniformly across their diverse geographical jurisdictions.
