A Lethal Strike During Field Repairs

According to Emanuel Fabian, a tragic security incident unfolded this morning in the southern Lebanon town of Taybeh, situated within the Israeli-declared security zone. A tank belonging to the 77th Battalion became immobilized, requiring immediate field repairs by its crew and supporting units. As the soldiers worked on the vehicle, a Hezbollah explosive-laden drone successfully struck the position. The blast resulted in the death of Sgt. Idan Fooks, 19, from Petah Tikva, and left six other soldiers wounded, including four who are currently in serious condition.

Secondary Attacks During Medical Evacuation

Following the initial strike, an Israeli Air Force (IAF) helicopter was dispatched to the scene to evacuate the casualties to a nearby hospital. In a significant escalation, Hezbollah targeted the rescue mission by launching two additional explosive-laden drones at the evacuation site. According to an IDF probe, ground forces managed to intercept one of the incoming drones. However, a second drone evaded defenses and exploded in close proximity to both the rescue helicopter and the personnel on the ground. While this second impact was caught on footage, the military confirmed it did not result in further injuries.

Netanyahu Vows Response to Ceasefire Violations

The attack has placed immense strain on the fragile ceasefire that was originally brokered on April 17 and recently extended. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the incident by accusing Hezbollah of deliberately "dismantling the ceasefire" through repeated provocations. According to the source, the Israeli government has vowed to act forcefully, asserting its right under the truce terms to respond to "planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks." In the hours following the strike, the IDF reportedly carried out a wave of retaliatory airstrikes and artillery shelling against Hezbollah infrastructure north of the security zone.
