The Chicago Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 9000 block of South Eggleston Avenue at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Arriving officers discovered a 21 year old male victim suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the neck. The timing of the incident, occurring during late afternoon hours in a residential area, has heightened local concerns regarding public safety and the prevalence of daylight shootings.
Medical Response and Pronouncement
Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Despite the efforts of trauma surgeons and medical staff, the man was later pronounced dead.
