Healing from "Worn Out" Grief
The legendary singer-songwriter was candid about the toll the past year has taken on her, specifically following the death of her longtime husband, Carl Dean, in 2025. Parton admitted to feeling "worn down and worn out" by the grieving process. "I just got myself kind of where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally, and physically," she explained [02:12]. Despite these challenges, she remained characteristically optimistic, stating, "All is good. It didn’t slow me down" [02:12].
A Signature Return to Dollywood
For her first major public appearance in several months, the "Jolene" singer dazzled in a bedazzled corseted dress and her signature voluminous platinum-blond updo. Her appearance marked a significant milestone after she was forced to skip her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry in January due to ongoing health concerns. During the event, she shared a lighthearted moment with Dollywood Company president Eugene Naughton, jokingly clarifying that she is "not dating anybody" and that her late husband, Carl, is "waiting for me" at the pearly gates.
Overcoming Recent Setbacks
Parton’s return is particularly meaningful following a string of postponements and cancellations in late 2025:
