Background: High-Profile Terminations
The cultural audit was sparked by the exit of three leaders:
Greg J. Hornblow (Former OneRoof CEO): Terminated in November after admitting to paying a 14-year-old for sex. At the time of his arrest, he was already under internal investigation for inappropriate behavior at a work function and making inappropriate office comments.
Ross Flahive (Former ZM Content Director): Dismissed separately in late 2025.
Nicholas Hammond: Left the company in December.
Steven Joyce noted that while adequate reporting systems existed, they were not accessed for some time in these cases. The review highlighted a need for NZME to better promote a supportive environment where staff feel safe to witness or experience inappropriate behavior without fear of reprisal.
