A Sinister Deception During Recreation
The serenity of an upscale weekly football gathering in Ikoyi was shattered on Wednesday, April 15, when a calculated thief made off with multiple high-end devices. Veteran comedian Okey Bakassi, a regular participant in the Wednesday matches, took to social media to detail how the group was infiltrated by a stranger who feigned interest in the sport to carry out a pre-meditated heist.
The Suspect's Method Of Operation
According to Bakassi, the unknown young man approached the group of men—described as prominent professionals and residents—asking to join their game. In a spirit of sportsmanship, the group welcomed him. However, shortly after entering the pitch, the suspect allegedly faked an injury, a move that allowed him to exit the field of play and move toward the bench area where the players' personal belongings were kept.
The Heist And Subsequent Disappearance
While the group remained focused on the match, the suspect utilized his position on the bench to systematically gather eight mobile phones. He then quietly exited the premises before anyone noticed the missing items. By the time the players finished their session and returned to the sidelines, the "injured" newcomer and their phones were nowhere to be found.
