The Discovery Of Alleged Misconduct At Franklin Middle School
A criminal investigation into a staff member at Franklin Middle School began in early February following an anonymous tip regarding inappropriate behavior. Brenda Meza, who served as a school secretary and coached the cross-country team, is accused of engaging in a predatory relationship with an eighth-grade student that spanned several months. According to the Greeley Police Department, the investigation determined that Meza utilized her position of authority to gain the trust of the minor before escalating the interactions. Following the initial report, the Greeley-Evans School District 6 placed Meza on administrative leave, eventually terminating her employment on Feb. 25 as the gravity of the allegations became clear.
Grooming Tactics And Prohibited Substance Distribution
The arrest affidavit details a disturbing pattern of grooming, alleging that Meza supplied the 13-year-old with marijuana and alcohol to facilitate the abuse. Police reports indicate that the secretary took numerous photographs of herself and the student consuming these substances together during after-school hours. Furthermore, the investigation revealed that Meza allegedly used her role as an advisor for the school’s games club to maintain close proximity to the victim. These actions, combined with the distribution of illicit substances to a minor, have led to significant felony charges including contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Digital Evidence And Explicit Communications
Law enforcement officials recovered a substantial digital trail that allegedly documents the progression of the illicit relationship. Beginning in November, Meza and the student reportedly exchanged a series of lewd text messages, which included the transmission of explicit photographs. The affidavit suggests that Meza also displayed signs of jealousy regarding the student’s interactions with other female classmates, a behavior often associated with intensive grooming cycles. This digital evidence has formed the basis for charges related to the online enticement of a child, as investigators believe the electronic communications were primary tools used to coordinate clandestine meetings.
