The investigation escalated when a narcotics detection K-9 was deployed to screen the exterior and interior areas of the vehicle. According to the LaPorte County Jail, the dog provided a positive alert for the presence of controlled substances, leading deputies to conduct a targeted search of the passenger cabin. During this process, officers located a backpack that was found to contain a substantial amount of cocaine along with marijuana. The discovery of these illegal drugs confirms the effectiveness of canine-assisted searches in high-traffic commercial environments.
