A Violent Conclusion to a Coastal Pursuit
A routine attempt at a traffic stop escalated into a high-speed chase along Highway 17, south of Pawleys Island, after a local resident refused to comply with police directives. According to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando Sanders led deputies on a pursuit that only terminated when his vehicle collided with a light pole on Waverly Road. The mechanical failure caused by the impact allowed deputies to apprehend the suspect and initiate a search that revealed the true nature of the flight.
The Kilogram Hidden in the Wreckage
Upon inspecting the vehicle at the crash site, investigators discovered a single kilogram of fentanyl, an amount weighing more than two pounds. The presence of such a concentrated volume of the synthetic opioid immediately shifted the investigation from a traffic offense to a major narcotics operation. The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office reported that this initial discovery provided the necessary grounds for a wider investigation into the suspect’s local activities.
Raiding the Kaminski Street Distribution Hub
Following the roadside arrest, the Narcotics and Vice and Street Crimes Units executed a search warrant at a residence located at 130 Kaminski Street. The interior of the home served as a significant processing center, according to official releases. Inside, deputies found more than five additional kilograms of fentanyl, creating a total seizure that represents a substantial blow to the local illicit drug supply.
