Precision Strike on High-Density Residential Infrastructure
The city of Dnipro was the target of a morning aerial assault that resulted in a direct hit on a 14-story apartment building. Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that the strike caused significant structural damage to the building's walls, balconies, and windows. The impact specifically compromised the technical floor and ignited fires on the two uppermost levels. This incident occurred during a broader nationwide attack involving hundreds of drones and missiles, further straining local emergency response capabilities.
Escalating Casualty Toll and Pediatric Injuries
While initial reports indicated three victims, the number of injured civilians has steadily increased to thirteen as rescue operations progressed. Among the wounded are three children: a 9-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and an 18-month-old boy. Regional authorities confirmed that the children are currently receiving outpatient care for their injuries. However, the condition of the adult victims remains a primary concern for local medics, with at least two individuals—a 67-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man—hospitalized in serious condition with shrapnel wounds and traumatic brain injuries.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Firefighting Efforts
Search and rescue teams, along with specialized firefighting units, were deployed to the high-rise immediately following the explosion. All municipal services are currently on the scene to mitigate the consequences of the strike and prevent the fires on the 13th and 14th floors from spreading to adjacent sections of the building. Governor Hanzha cautioned that the threat to the city remains active, urging residents to remain in sheltered locations while the structural integrity of the damaged complex is assessed by engineering experts.
