Direct Strike on Residential High-Rise Sparks Massive Inferno
The city of Dnipro was jolted by a series of explosions in the early hours of Thursday as Russian forces launched an intensive drone campaign across the region. A direct hit on a 13-story apartment building in a central district resulted in an immediate and catastrophic fire that tore through apartments between the sixth and ninth floors. Governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported that local emergency services worked through the night to contain the blaze, which also spread to nearby vehicles and a retail shop. This latest assault marks one of the most significant civilian-targeted strikes in the region this month, leaving dozens of families displaced.
Children Among the Casualties in Night of Regional Terror
Casualty figures continued to rise throughout Thursday morning as search and rescue teams cleared the upper floors of the damaged high-rise. Among the ten wounded are two young girls, aged 9 and 14, both of whom were hospitalized in moderate condition. Medical authorities in Dnipro confirmed that four adults are currently receiving inpatient care for shrapnel wounds and smoke inhalation. The death toll stands at two, though Mayor Borys Filatov warned that a third body may have been located in the debris, pending official identification and extraction by specialized rescue units.
Systemic Barrage Targets Multiple Districts and Infrastructure
The overnight attack was not limited to the city center, as Russian drones targeted three separate districts within the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 20 times. In the Nikopol district, the communities of Myrivska and Marhanetska were subjected to heavy shelling, damaging private homes and a garage. A 64-year-old woman was reportedly wounded in Nikopol and is receiving outpatient treatment. Simultaneously, drone strikes in Kryvy Rih ignited fires at critical infrastructure facilities, though no immediate casualties were reported from that specific sector as of Thursday morning.
