A Strategic Entry Into the Namibian Capital Market
Ongwe Minerals Inc., a gold exploration entity headquartered in Canada, has officially extended its financial reach by listing on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX). Trading under the ticker symbol ONG, the company initiated its local market activities on 15 April. Chief Executive Dave Underwood characterized the move as a fundamental shift in the company’s regional strategy, designed to establish a permanent and robust presence within the Namibian investment landscape while continuing its exploration mission for new gold systems.
Maintaining Continuity Across Global Trading Platforms
Despite this new regional milestone, the company has confirmed that its primary listing will remain on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) Venture Exchange. This dual-listing structure ensures that Ongwe’s common shares continue to trade in the Canadian market while simultaneously opening a domestic channel for Namibian participants. The move follows a tradition of successful regional engagement by the management team, who have previously utilized the NSX to raise significant capital through other ventures such as Osino Resources and Koryx Copper.
Empowering Local Institutional and Retail Investors
The introduction of shares to the NSX is specifically tailored to simplify the logistical hurdles faced by domestic investors. According to Underwood, the listing streamlines the administrative process for both institutional funds and individual retail investors to trade shares or contribute to future capital requirements. By facilitating easier access, the company intends to foster a dedicated local shareholder base that can participate more fluidly in the firm’s financial evolution and exploration successes.
