Strategic Firearms Operation Targets Residential Arsenal
The California Attorney General’s Office announced on March 10 the successful conclusion of a high stakes firearms investigation in Rancho Cordova. On February 10, agents from the California Department of Justice, working in coordination with the FBI and the Sacramento Police Department, executed a targeted search warrant at a private residence. The operation was designed to disrupt the illegal possession of specialized weaponry within the community, leading to the discovery of several prohibited items hidden on the property.
Military Grade Hardware and Modified Weaponry Recovered
During the search of the suspect's home, investigators recovered an inert rocket launcher and four illegally owned firearms. Among the seized weapons was a handgun that had been illegally modified to function as a fully automatic machine gun. The inventory also included a shotgun and two additional handguns. Attorney General Rob Bonta emphasized that these types of weapons have no place in civilian hands, noting that the removal of such hardware from the streets is a critical step in reducing regional gun violence.
Felony Arrest and Charges of Child Endangerment
A Rancho Cordova man, whose name has not been publicly released by the Attorney General’s Office, was arrested at the scene. The suspect faces a litany of serious charges, including being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and the specific possession of a machine gun. Additionally, authorities filed charges of child endangerment, suggesting that the illegal arsenal was stored in an environment where minors were present or at risk.
