The search for a missing Biratnagar woman ended in tragedy on Tuesday evening when her decomposed remains were located beneath a drainage culvert. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Komal Kumari Sah, had been missing since the night of March 18. Investigators described a chilling scene at the recovery site: the victim’s hands and feet were bound with a shawl and sari, and the body had been stuffed into a jute sack in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime and facilitate its disposal.

Suspicious Conduct Leads to Breakthrough

The breakthrough in the case came after investigators noted inconsistencies in the behavior of the victim’s husband, Roshan Sah. Although he reported his wife missing on March 20, local police grew suspicious of his shifting narratives. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Lilaraj Lamichhane, Roshan frequently attempted to mislead officers, claiming at various points that he had forgotten her photograph or suggesting, without evidence, that she had eloped with another man. These evasive tactics prompted the District Police Office, Morang, to place him under closer surveillance.

Confession Reveals Domestic Discord

During preliminary interrogation following the recovery of the body, Roshan Sah reportedly confessed to strangling his wife. The motive provided to investigators centered on a deteriorating domestic relationship characterized by frequent disputes. Police revealed that the suspect had grown increasingly resentful over his wife’s social media activity, specifically her engagement with TikTok. These arguments reportedly reached a violent climax on the night of March 18, leading to the fatal assault.
