Youth Wing Alleges "Political Betrayal" and Mismanagement of Public Funds

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Network in Bayelsa State has intensified its call for a comprehensive overhaul of the nation's maritime security framework. In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, the group’s president, Comrade Preye Godson, demanded an immediate forensic probe into the pipeline protection contract currently overseen by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL). This development was triggered by the recent resignation of Joshua MacIver, the former APC deputy governorship candidate, who also serves as the state coordinator for TSSNL. The youth wing contends that MacIver’s departure from the party, while still benefiting from a lucrative federal contract, represents a significant breach of political and national loyalty.

Concerns Over the $144 Million Annual Security Deal

At the heart of the dispute is the multi-billion naira pipeline security contract awarded to TSSNL, a company owned by former militant leader Government Ekpemukpulo, popularly known as Tompolo. The APC Youth Network alleges that the contract, valued at approximately $144 million (over N48 billion) annually, has been "hijacked by opportunists." The group argues that the arrangement lacks the necessary transparency and accountability to justify such a substantial expenditure of public funds. They further claim that the deal has become a symbol of cronyism, where financial rewards are disconnected from actual performance metrics regarding the reduction of oil theft in the Niger Delta creeks.

Accusations of "Stomach Politics" and Rented Loyalty

The statement from the Bayelsa APC youths specifically targets Joshua MacIver, accusing him of using the party as a "temporary vehicle for enrichment." According to the network, MacIver’s candidacy was not rooted in the "Renewed Hope" project but was instead a calculated move for personal gain. The group expressed outrage that individuals could resign from the ruling party while continuing to manage immense financial resources granted by the federal government. They characterized this behavior as "political prostitution," suggesting that continuing the current contract rewards betrayal and undermines the very foundations of party discipline and good governance.
