Invasion of a Public Health Infrastructure
The Ondo State Police Command has officially verified a violent security breach at the Basic Health Centre located in the Oke-Ijebu district of Akure. During the early hours of Saturday, a coordinated group of three assailants launched a tactical strike on the medical facility, utilizing a black Toyota Venza for transport. According to preliminary reports, the suspects bypassed traditional security measures by scaling the perimeter fence of the health center. This incident represents a significant escalation in local criminal activity, as the target was a vital public utility intended for community welfare and emergency medical services.
Assault and Dispossession of On Duty Personnel
Upon gaining entry to the premises, the attackers, who were reportedly armed with pump-action rifles and cutlasses, confronted three health workers who were providing essential services during the night shift. The victims were subjected to immediate intimidation and were forcefully dispossessed of their personal property. According to police statements, the stolen items included mobile phones and a Point of Sale terminal utilized by the facility. The vulnerability of medical staff during these shifts has become a central point of concern for regional health administrators following this targeted aggression against civilian professionals.
Abduction and Subsequent Abandonment of Victims
The severity of the encounter intensified when the suspects transitioned from robbery to abduction, whisking the three health workers away from the facility in their vehicle. The victims were transported toward the Olokuta Correctional Centre axis along Ondo Road. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, revealed that the suspects eventually ordered the victims to remove their clothing before abandoning them in a nearby bush. This psychological and physical ordeal ended when the workers were able to seek assistance from personnel stationed at the nearby Correctional Service facility.
