High-Speed Pursuit on Red Arrow Highway

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported a significant arrest on Wednesday following a traffic stop attempt that escalated into a dangerous pursuit. A deputy initially tried to stop the suspect vehicle for a motor vehicle code violation, but the driver refused to comply and fled west on Red Arrow Highway. During the ensuing chase, the vehicle reportedly reached speeds approaching 80 mph as the driver attempted to evade law enforcement.

Apprehension in Local Subdivision

The pursuit transitioned from the main highway when the suspect turned north onto C.R. 652 and entered a nearby subdivision. After navigating through the residential area, the driver significantly reduced his speed to approximately 10 mph before returning to C.R. 652, where he eventually brought the vehicle to a complete stop. Deputies were then able to safely apprehend the individual without further incident.

Seizure of Narcotics and Distribution Tools

Upon securing the 58 year old driver, authorities conducted a thorough search of both the individual and his vehicle. This investigation led to the discovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine. In addition to the illegal narcotics, deputies seized various materials commonly associated with drug trafficking, including specialized packaging materials and digital scales.
