Strategic Liquidation and the End of a Legacy
After more than seven decades of operation, Waltman Furniture has announced the permanent closure of its retail and warehouse facilities. The Kittanning, Pennsylvania-based company has partnered with Planner Furniture Promotions to manage a comprehensive going-out-of-business sale scheduled to commence on April 9. This transition marks the final chapter for a business that has served as a cornerstone of the regional furniture market since its founding in the mid-20th century.
Evolution from Butler County’s Largest Showroom
Originally established in 1951 by Vernon Waltman in Chicora, the retailer grew to become the largest furniture destination in Butler County. In 1982, leadership passed to the founder’s son, Frank Waltman, who expanded the footprint in 2016 by opening a second location in Kittanning. The business eventually consolidated its operations into the newer 100,000-square-foot Kittanning showroom and warehouse in 2023, which will now be sold as the owner transitions into retirement.
Inventory Clearance of Premium Home Brands
The liquidation process will involve the rapid sale of all remaining inventory, featuring prominent brands such as Flexsteel, Serta, Beautyrest, and Vaughan-Bassett. Discounted items will include a wide range of mattresses, accessories, and upholstered furniture. Company leadership expressed pride in the generational trust built with local customers, emphasizing that the final sale aims to clear the facility to the bare walls before the real estate is placed on the market.
