Federal Leadership Calls for Unified Front Against National Insecurity

Vice President Kashim Shettima has issued a high level call for deepened cooperation between the federal government and Nigeria’s 36 states to address the persistent security challenges facing the nation. Speaking at the second term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Awka, the Vice President emphasized that the shadows cast by insecurity can only be dispersed through a collective strategy. He noted that the occasion was less about the celebration of political continuity and more about the weight of responsibility shared by leaders at all tiers of government to protect the lives and property of citizens.

Governor Soludo Pledges Transition to High Speed Economic Transformation

Immediately following his swearing in for a second four year mandate, Governor Soludo announced a transition to what he termed "Gear 4.0" for the development of Anambra State. The Governor articulated a vision to transform the state into an "African Dubai Silicon Valley," focusing on rapid industrialization and the institutionalization of long term change. Soludo stated that his administration is moving with extreme urgency, targeting the simultaneous execution of multiple master plans covering rail, gas, and urban development to ensure the state remains viable for future generations.

Ambitious Infrastructure Projects Target Future Population Surges

Recognizing that the state’s population is projected to reach 50 million by the turn of the century, Soludo highlighted the strategic necessity of the "Land Bank" initiative. This program secures space for critical future infrastructure, including three planned airports and four new cities such as New Niger City and Awka 2.0. A central pillar of this expansion is the development of an Aerotropolis and a Mixed Use Industrial City, both of which have already secured approval as Economic Free Trade Zones. These projects are intended to function as foundations for a modernized economy capable of providing thousands of sustainable jobs.
