Strategic Capital Influx Amid Infrastructure Expansion
Vast Data has finalized a Series F funding round totaling approximately $1 billion, propelling its market valuation to $30 billion. This milestone represents a massive leap from its $9.1 billion valuation in late 2023, reflecting intense investor appetite for the physical and software layers supporting the artificial intelligence boom. Led by Drive Capital and Access Industries, the round saw participation from major industry players including Nvidia, NEA, and Fidelity Management & Research Company. This capital injection solidifies Vast Data’s position as the most valuable private high-tech entity in Israel, trailing only the $32 billion benchmark set by Wiz.
Liquidity for Early Stakeholders and Global Workforce
While the funding round reached the $1 billion mark, more than half of that total is allocated for secondary transactions rather than corporate reserves. Over $500 million will provide liquidity for early investors and employees who opted to sell portions of their holdings. This move is particularly significant for the company’s workforce of 1,100 people, roughly one-third of whom are based in Israel. According to reports, this volume of liquidity is unusually large, signaling strong confidence in the company’s long-term trajectory despite the significant payouts to early-stage participants.
Architectural Innovations in AI Operating Systems
The company’s growth is anchored in its proprietary Disaggregated Shared Everything (DASE) architecture, designed to handle the unique computing demands of modern AI workloads. Vast Data has evolved its core storage foundation into what CEO Renen Hallak describes as an AI operating system. This platform integrates data storage, compute capabilities, and real-time processing into a unified stack. This convergence is intended to eliminate traditional trade-offs between performance and scale, allowing the system to act as a central nervous system for complex AI models and large-scale data environments.
