Diplomatic Action in the Tyumen Region
A successful intervention by Uzbek diplomatic and migration officials has paved the way for over 100 migrant workers in Russia to receive more than 2 million rubles (approximately 300 million UZS) in withheld pay. Representatives from the Migration Agency and the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg conducted a high-priority visit to Tobolsk to address labor grievances. The mission focused on Uzbek nationals employed by IZHPROSERVICE and the subcontractor LLC SADKOM, where systemic payment delays had left dozens of workers without their earned income.
Identifying Breaches in Labor Contracts
During an on-site review, officials confirmed that LLC SADKOM had failed to provide timely wage payments for the months of February and March. This breach affected 26 Uzbek workers currently on-site, creating immediate financial instability for the group. Following the discovery of these arrears, the consular delegation initiated formal discussions with the general contractor, LLC SIBUR, and its associated subcontractors to hold the responsible parties accountable for the missing compensation.
Commitment to Arrears Settlement
The negotiations resulted in a formal acknowledgment of the debt and a binding commitment from the companies involved to settle the outstanding balances. Officials announced that the 26 current workers can expect to receive their combined total of 2 million rubles in the coming days. This resolution highlights the effectiveness of direct diplomatic engagement in resolving commercial and labor disputes that impact the welfare of citizens working outside of Uzbekistan's borders.
