Successful Extraction of Downed F-15E Crew

A massive, multi-agency rescue operation concluded on Easter Sunday with the successful recovery of two US airmen from hostile territory. General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed on Monday that the mission was initiated immediately following the detection of active rescue beacons. The pilot of the F-15E, identified by the call sign Dude 44 Alpha, was the first to be recovered during a daylight operation on Friday, setting the stage for a more complex search for the remaining crew member.

Survival and Evasion by Weapons System Operator

The aircraft's weapons system operator, call sign Dude 44 Bravo, remained behind enemy lines for more than two days despite suffering significant injuries. According to General Caine, the airman "continued to work and survive" while actively evading capture by Iranian forces. The search for Dude 44 Bravo involved "every means available" to the United States military, as the operator utilized survival training to remain concealed in a "daunting" environment while awaiting extraction.

CIA Deployment of Advanced Tracking Technologies

The recovery of the second airman was made possible through the intensive involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency. Director John Ratcliffe told reporters that the agency deployed a combination of human assets and "exquisite technologies" unique to the US intelligence community. Ratcliffe compared the difficulty of the mission to hunting for a "single grain of sand in the middle of a desert," emphasizing the extreme technical challenges posed by the terrain and the proximity of enemy forces.
