Diversified Loan Portfolio Drives Record Financial Performance

The United Capital Infrastructure Fund (UCIF) has demonstrated significant financial resilience by reporting a 24.62 percent gross return for the year ending December 31, 2025. Managed by United Capital Plc, the Securities and Exchange Commission-licensed vehicle generated ₦3.06 billion in total income, a substantial jump from the previous fiscal cycle. This performance was primarily fueled by the strong yield of its diversified infrastructure loan portfolio, which continues to provide stable returns despite broader market volatility.

Strengthened Governance to Oversee Strategic Deployments

During the review period, the fund managers moved to bolster their internal oversight by appointing four new industry professionals to the UCIF Investment Committee. These appointees bring specialized expertise in transaction advisory, impact investing, and infrastructure finance. Chief Investment Officer UcheNna Mkparu noted that this disciplined investment approach and rigorous due diligence are essential for managing assets with predictable cash flows, ensuring the fund remains focused on long-term sustainability.

Private Capital Emerges as Catalyst for Local Growth

The fund’s success highlights a growing trend of private capital stepping in to fill the gap in critical national infrastructure projects. By successfully mobilizing long-term funding for sectors that traditionally struggle with liquidity, UCIF has distributed a cumulative ₦6.19 billion to qualified unit holders since its inception. This steady stream of income serves as a proof of concept for how private investment vehicles can provide competitive risk-adjusted returns while simultaneously addressing the country's development deficit.
