Strategic Degradation of Russian Drone Manufacturing Hubs
The Ukrainian military has finalized its assessment of a major long-range operation targeting the Atlant Aero facility in Taganrog, Rostov region. According to a statement released by the General Staff on April 24, 2026, the Neptune cruise missile strike on April 19 resulted in the confirmed destruction of two production workshops and damage to four additional buildings. This facility serves as a critical node in Russia's military-industrial complex, handling the end-to-end design, manufacture, and testing of specialized unmanned systems.
Dismantling the Molniya and Orion Supply Chains
The Atlant Aero plant is primarily responsible for the production of Molniya strike and reconnaissance UAVs, which have been frequently deployed against Ukrainian infrastructure. Additionally, the facility manufactures essential components for the Orion UAV, a heavy endurance drone capable of carrying precision-guided munitions. By specifically targeting the workshops where these platforms are assembled, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have introduced a significant bottleneck in Russia’s ability to replenish its fleet of reconnaissance and strike drones.
Precision Strike on FSB Naval Assets in Crimea
In a separate but related development, Ukrainian forces extended their strike campaign to the occupied port of Sevastopol on April 22, 2026. The General Staff confirmed that a Neptune missile successfully impacted a Project 22460 patrol vessel operated by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Border Service. Surveillance data indicates that the strike caused direct damage to the vessel's combat bridge and control section, effectively rendering the ship non-operational for the immediate future as its navigational and combat command systems require extensive repair.
