A New Front Door for Content Discovery
In a significant shift for the digital entertainment landscape, Tubi has launched the first native video streaming application within the ChatGPT interface. While major platforms like YouTube and Amazon have long utilized internal AI for recommendations, Tubi is the first to treat ChatGPT as a primary entry point for its service. Users can now install the Tubi app from the ChatGPT App Directory and use the "@Tubi" command to initiate interactive, mood-based, or genre-specific searches directly within their chat sessions.
Personalization Powered by Massive Scale
The integration is built upon Tubi’s robust discovery engine, which analyzes data from over 100 million active users. Mike Bidgoli, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Tubi, stated that recent breakthroughs in generative AI allow the system to better interpret user intent and "reason over content." This enables the chatbot to move beyond rigid keywords, instead understanding complex requests—such as a "half-conceived film vibe"—and connecting viewers to the right titles faster than traditional menu-based scrolling.
Meeting Users in the AI Workspace
By pushing its service into the ChatGPT ecosystem, Tubi is capitalizing on the habits of over 900 million weekly active users who increasingly turn to AI agents for travel, food, and media advice. This strategy prioritizes "discovery at the point of intent," meeting customers where they are already spending time rather than forcing them to open a separate streaming app to begin their search. Industry analysts view this as a potential bellwether for how legacy media companies will adapt to a web increasingly dominated by AI assistants.
