Fatal Roadside Incident During Political Pilgrimage
The just-concluded National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been overshadowed by the tragic deaths of three prominent officials from Kebbi State. According to official reports, the victims were part of the state’s delegation traveling to Abuja for the high-profile political gathering. The incident occurred during their journey when their vehicle made a temporary stop along the roadside. While attempting to cross the road, the officials were struck by a fast-moving vehicle, resulting in immediate fatalities. This sudden loss has cast a somber mood over the Kebbi political community as they process the transition of active public servants during a period of national party activities.
Identification of the Deceased Local Leaders
The victims have been identified as grassroots leaders deeply involved in the administration of Ngaski Local Government Area. Among the deceased are Hadiza Sabo Warrah, the Councillor representing Warrah Ward, and Sahabi Alheri, the Councillor representing Birnin Yauri Ward. Both were essential figures in local governance and were traveling to represent their constituents at the federal level. Their involvement in the APC convention was a mechanical part of their duties as party members and elected representatives, making their untimely deaths particularly poignant for the communities they served within the Ngaski local government structure.
Loss of Governor's Social Media Aide
In addition to the local councillors, the accident claimed the life of Abubakar Sadiq, who served as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Nasir Idris on Social Media. As a key member of the governor’s communication team, Sadiq was instrumental in bridging the gap between the state administration and the digital public. His death represents a significant loss to the executive branch's media wing. The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Yahaya Sarki, issued a statement confirming the details of the accident, noting that the loss of a close aide and two dedicated local representatives has deeply affected the state’s leadership.
