A Collision on Jupiter Island

The incident occurred on March 27, when Tiger Woods' Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side on a residential road. Woods informed responding officers that the crash happened while he was distracted by his mobile phone and attempting to change the radio station. While no injuries were reported, the released body camera footage shows Woods kneeling on a lawn, appearing disoriented as he explained the sequence of events to Deputy Tatiana Levenar.

Claims of a Presidential Conversation

As authorities approached the scene, Woods was observed hanging up his cellphone and telling a deputy, "I was just talking to the president." While the specific identity of the caller was not captured on video, President Donald Trump later commented publicly on the arrest, describing Woods as a "close friend" and acknowledging that the golfer is facing "some difficulty." The connection between the two is notable, as Vanessa Trump, the President's former daughter-in-law, is currently dating Woods. The White House has not officially confirmed if a conversation took place immediately following the crash.

Sobriety Testing and Arrest Procedures

The footage provides a detailed look at the roadside sobriety test, during which Deputy Levenar determined that Woods' "normal faculties were impaired." Woods appeared astonished when informed he was under arrest. Subsequent searches of his person revealed two white pills, which Woods identified as Norco, a prescription painkiller containing hydrocodone. Although a Breathalyzer test showed a 0.00% alcohol level, Woods reportedly refused a urine test, which constitutes a misdemeanor under current Florida law.
