A Strategic Leadership Transition

Thomson Reuters (TRI) announced a planned transition in its executive leadership on Monday, March 2, 2026. Gary E. Bischoping Jr. is set to join the Toronto-based content and technology giant on April 13, 2026, officially assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on May 8. He takes over from Mike Eastwood, a long-serving executive who has been instrumental in the company’s recent transformation into a "content-led technology" firm. The move signals a clear intent to integrate deeper technological and operational rigor into the company's financial planning as it scales its AI offerings.

Bischoping’s Tech and Private Equity Background

Gary Bischoping brings over 30 years of global finance experience to the role. Most recently, he served as a partner at the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, where he led the Finance Center of Excellence. His extensive resume includes:

Dell Technologies: Over 17 years in senior finance roles, including divisional CFO and Treasurer.

Finastra & Varian Medical Systems: Served as CFO for both companies, leading significant capital allocation and transformation programs. CEO Steve Hasker noted that Bischoping’s background provides the "right combination of financial rigor and strategic insight" necessary to guide the company through its next chapter, particularly the opportunities presented by the generative AI era.
