A Pinnacle Recognition for Contributions to Regenerative Dentistry
The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has officially recognized Maobin Yang for his transformative research in the anatomical and regenerative sciences. As a leading figure at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry, Yang has bridged the gap between basic stem cell biology and clinical applications in endodontics. The award, presented during the Opening Ceremonies in San Diego, stands as one of the highest honors in the global dental research community. It acknowledges a career dedicated to developing new methodologies for tissue engineering, specifically targeting the complex structures of the oral and craniofacial complex.
The Integration of International Academic Excellence and Clinical Specialization
Yang’s professional trajectory is marked by a rigorous international education that spans top-tier institutions in both China and the United States. He began his dental training at the West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, where he earned his initial dental degree and a Master of Science in Dental Medicine. He subsequently expanded his scientific expertise by completing a PhD in Biomedical Science at the University of Connecticut Health Center. This deep academic foundation was further bolstered by clinical specializations at Temple University, where he earned both a Master of Dental Sciences in Endodontics and a Doctor of Dental Medicine, creating a rare synergy between laboratory discovery and patient care.
Leading Multi-Disciplinary Research at Temple University
At the Kornberg School of Dentistry, Yang serves in several critical leadership roles, including Chair of the Department of Endodontology and Director of the Regenerative Health Research Laboratory. His research program is centered on the integration of biomaterials science with stem cell therapy to facilitate the regeneration of dental tissues. Under his direction, the lab has secured more than $700,000 in competitive funding, drawing support from the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Foundation and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Notably, his proposals on dental pulp tissue engineering have been recognized as some of the highest-rated applications in the field, reflecting the clinical urgency and scientific merit of his work.
