Targeted Attack on Local Monarch
The Kwallak community in Langtang North Local Government Area was thrown into mourning following the violent murder of its traditional ruler, Ponzhi Kwallak. Assailants reportedly stormed the monarch’s residence on Thursday night, killing him before fleeing with his mobile phone, motorcycle, and other valuable personal effects. The brutal nature of the attack sparked immediate tension in the region, leading to a community wide manhunt for those responsible.
Apprehension and Reported Confession
The three suspects were apprehended on Friday when they were allegedly spotted attempting to sell the motorcycle stolen from the deceased ruler. During a preliminary interrogation by community members, the individuals reportedly confessed to the robbery and subsequent murder. This admission triggered an immediate and violent response from local residents, who moved to exact retribution outside the formal legal system.
Interception of Security Handover
Reports indicate that some community members initially attempted to follow legal protocols by handing the suspects over to law enforcement. However, these efforts were thwarted when a large group of hoodlums overpowered the youths holding the suspects. The mob seized the three men and moved them to a location near the Council Secretariat, where they were set ablaze.
