Emergency Airlift to Charlotte Trauma Center Following Attack

A three year old child is recovering at a specialized trauma facility in Charlotte after being repeatedly bitten by a dog on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Sale Barn Lane in the Pageland area of Chesterfield County. Responding emergency personnel described a violent scene with significant evidence of the struggle located near the residence. Due to the severity of the wounds, flight medics were called to transport the toddler for immediate surgical evaluation and pain management.

Medical Report Details Twelve Distinct Lacerations

According to a news release from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, the child suffered a total of twelve lacerations distributed across the head, face, stomach, and arm. While the attack resulted in substantial blood loss, medical officials at the Charlotte hospital have stated that the injuries are not considered life threatening. The victim remains under close observation, and pediatric specialists expect the child to make a full physical recovery.

Owner Identified as Repeat Offender Under Court Order

The dog’s owner has been identified as Richard Bragg, 59, a resident of the neighborhood where the attack took place. Investigators revealed that this is not the first time Bragg’s pet has demonstrated violent behavior. Approximately two years ago, Bragg was convicted in a separate attack involving the same animal. At that time, a judge issued a strict order requiring the dog to be securely fenced or tethered at all times to prevent public contact.
