Strategic Leadership Hire in Hong Kong

Societe Generale has announced the appointment of Selina Cheung as Head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM) for Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Cheung is tasked with managing the origination and execution of equity and equity-linked transactions throughout the region. This hire is part of a broader strategy by the French bank to strengthen its investment banking franchise and enhance the value provided to regional clients.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

In her new role, Cheung will report regionally to Stephanie Clement de Givry, who serves as the Head of Global Banking and Advisory for APAC. Functionally, she will report to Jeff Mortara and Anvita Arora, the global co-heads of ECM. Cheung is expected to work in close coordination with the bank's international teams across Europe and the United States to ensure a unified approach to global capital markets.

Leveraging the Bernstein Partnership

A key component of Cheung’s mandate involves utilizing the capabilities of Bernstein, a cash equities and research joint venture between Societe Generale and AllianceBernstein. By integrating Bernstein’s research platform and established presence in Asia, the bank aims to deliver deeper market insights and differentiated value to its clients. This synergy is viewed as a critical advantage in a competitive regional market.
