A Campaign Like No Other
The sale of the Woolshed Road property, known as the "Boat House," marks one of the most successful marketing efforts for New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty. Agents Julia Franklin and Gareth Ireland reported that an offer was received within the first week of listing, though enquiries continued to pour in until the day the deal was finalized. The property's unique blend of "tiny home" living and extreme luxury—complete with a double garage, gym, and golf practice area—made it a viral sensation among both local and national buyers, particularly Aucklanders seeking a unique holiday retreat.
Design Inspiration: The "Boat House"
The 28sqm bach was a passion project for owners Ben and Catherine Parsons. Inspired by a trip to Japan, the couple worked with architectural designer Tony Butel of Ground Up Studio to create a space that embraced "theatre" and maximized views of Cecil Peak, Coronet Peak, and the Remarkables. Key design features included:
Aesthetic: Dark, earthy finishes designed to make the surrounding landscape the center of attention.
Architecture: Distinctive round windows and a position that appears to sit directly over Willow Pond.
