Bridging the Capability Gap for Local Businesses
Singtel and SIM Academy have collaborated to launch a specialized eight week program designed to address the specific anxieties local enterprises face regarding artificial intelligence. During the official launch on April 29, 2026, at the Singtel Cyber Security Institute, Singtel Singapore chief executive Ng Tian Chong noted that many business owners struggle to identify viable use cases and ensure secure implementation. The initiative, known as AI.dea, seeks to provide a structured roadmap for organizations to build internal AI competencies while maintaining responsible data handling practices.
Strategic Phasing of Enterprise AI Integration
The educational framework is divided into three distinct phases to ensure a holistic transition from theory to practice. In the initial stage, senior management is guided through the process of prioritizing AI projects that align with their specific business objectives and evaluating the inherent risks of data exposure. The second phase shifts focus to operational leadership, where department heads perform cost benefit analyses and select appropriate technology vendors. Finally, the program concludes with an evaluation phase where project leads learn to monitor performance and establish human oversight mechanisms to govern automated decisions.
A Collaborative Ecosystem of Industry Experts
Participants in the AI.dea program receive instruction from a diverse group of professionals, including consultants from SIM Academy and cybersecurity specialists from Singtel. Additionally, legal experts from Drew & Napier provide critical guidance on the regulatory and compliance aspects of deploying new technologies. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that SMEs are not just technically proficient but also legally protected and resilient against potential data breaches. Since the preliminary sessions began in February, 22 employees from seven different companies have already completed the training.
